Am I ready to register?
Work through these steps before registration opens. Each step links to the page or system where you finish it. If you get stuck, book an advising appointment or chat with Rawhide, WNMU’s 24/7 virtual assistant.
Step 1: Know when registration opens
Registration dates and the last days to add, drop or withdraw are different for each part of term. Missing a deadline can affect your grades, financial aid and bill.
Step 2: Check for holds on your account
Most holds stop you from registering, so check before your advising appointment.
- Log in to Mustang Express (sign-in required).
- Select the Student tab, then Check Grades, Transcripts, Etc.
- Select View Holds to see each hold, when it was added and what it is for.
Step 3: Review your degree plan
Your degree plan shows which requirements you have finished and which courses you still need, so you only register for classes that count toward your degree.
Step 4: Talk with your advisor if you need to
Book an appointment if this is your first semester, you are changing your major, you are on academic probation or suspension, or you are not sure which classes to take.
- Book an advising appointment
- Academic standing, probation and suspension
- New student? Follow the New Student Roadmap first (transcripts, placement testing and more).
Step 5: Plan your schedule
Search the class schedule and write down the courses you want, plus a backup for each. Check meeting times, campus and delivery method (in person or online), make sure no classes overlap, and add up your credit hours.
Step 6: Get your financial aid in order
- Submit your FAFSA for the academic year.
- Check Mustang Express for missing financial aid documents, and accept your offered awards: how to manage your aid in Mustang Express.
- The number of credit hours you take can change your aid. If you are unsure, ask the Office of Financial Aid before you register.
Step 7: Know how you will pay
Pay your bill or enroll in a payment plan before classes begin.
Step 8: Register
Ready? Follow the Advising Center’s step-by-step guide, or go straight to registration. If a class will not add, contact Advising for help with holds, prerequisites or registration restrictions.
- Step-by-step registration guide
- Register for classes (sign-in required)
Step 9: After you register
- Get your textbooks: textbook information (Follett Access).
- Find your courses in Canvas (sign-in required) once the term opens.
- Check your schedule again before the add and drop deadlines.
